Mariana Mihut is one of the best known actresses in Romanian theatre and film. She made her big screen debut in the award winner Forest of the Hanged directed by Liviu Ciulei.
She has acted in numerous stage, radio, and TV theatre productions and in feature films. Since 1972 she has been a permanent member of the prestigious Bulandra Theatre in Bucharest. Her debut at Bulandra was in Lucian Pintile’s staging of Gogol’s Revizorul/ The Government Inspector and she is the recipient of many UNITER awards (the Romanian equivalent of the Laurence Olivier Award)
Her filmography includes De ce trag clopotele, Mitica?/Carnival Scenes (1981)and Balanta /The Oak (1992) directed by Lucian Pintilie, Nunta muta /Silent Wedding (2008) directed by Horatiu Malaele, Tatal fantoma/The Phantom Father (2011) by Lucian Georgescu.
