OANA BUJGOI GIURGIU

A law and journalism graduate, Oana Giurgiu directed television documentaries before starting a career in cinema.

She was part of the production team of the films “Mr. Lăzărescu’s Death”, directed by Cristi Puiu, “Delta”, directed by Kornél Mundruczó.

She produced three of Tudor Giurgiu’s films: “Love Sick”, “Of Snails and Men” and “Why Me?”, Peter Strickland’s debut film, “Katalin Varga”, which won the “Silver Bear” at the 2009 Berlinale and was the European Discovery of the Year 2009 at the European Film Academy Awards, “Sieranevada” by Cristi Puiu, and “Moromeții 2”, directed by Stere Gulea, as well as numerous European co productions.

She made her directorial debut with a historical feature length documentary, “Aliyah DaDa”, premiered in 2015 at Astra Film Sibiu and IFF Jerusalem, awarded as Best Romanian documentary at Gopo Awards 2015.

Oana is the executive director of the Transilvania International Film Festival
